Established in 2004, LAGIS is a medical device development company that specializes in the research, development, and design of minimally invasive surgery devices. Believing in the philosophies of “Innovative Product Research & Development”, “Precise Production Quality”, “Improving Management Quality”, and “Achieving Customer Satisfaction”, the company hopes to achieve and excel in meeting the demands and expectations of experienced professionals and to promote the excellent MIT (manufactured-in-Taiwan) product quality of own brand, LAGIS, to over 40 countries around the world. Meaning “longevity” in the Atayal language of Taiwan, the name LAGIS is selected to express the company’s expectations and dedication to the medical equipment sector, and to provide better quality products and reasonable prices for medical treatment.

Unlike conventional manufacturing industries, medical devices require more emphasis on safety, quality and product functions. Based in Dajia urban district, Taichung City, the plant is equipped at a scale of cleanroom grade, and has a high level of vertical integration in the production value chain of the medical devices, and all processes, from patent application, research and development, production and assembly, to sterilization are completed independently in the plant facility. The own brand, LAGIS, accounts for 100% of the income source of the company. In recent years, thanks to the efforts of all employees, the company has showed a stable growth in operations, a gradual annual increase in profits, and a multifold increase in number of employees from the 6 employees at the beginning to the 185 employees we have now, marking us as one of the outstanding manufacturers in Taiwan.

Dedication to Minimally Invasive (Endoscopic) Surgery

With the advancements in medical surgery and the constant technological improvements today, the prognosis of the patients has become increasingly important. Surgery methods have changed from the large openings in traditional surgery to a number of small incisions in minimally invasive (endoscopic) surgery, and single port endoscopic surgery, and finally to the development of the natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery, allowing the patients to shorten the length of hospitalization, and reduce post-surgery pain. As such, the minimally invasive surgery has become the mainstream in global surgery developments, and is widely applied in a variety of surgeries. However, conducting minimally invasive surgeries require the use of many equipment and devices, such as Veress needle, trocar, endoscopic forceps, and laparoscopic suction & irrigation systems. To meet the client demands, LAGIS has developed a comprehensive series of LAGIS minimally invasive surgery equipment and devices.

As we have always provided stable and good quality services, ensured a fast and stable delivery date of uninterrupted supply, and also we have paid close attention to the needs of our customers, and ensured a clear communication channel with our clients, agents that cooperated with us previously have now become our loyal clients and joined us in promoting LAGIS minimally invasive surgery devices. By concentrating on the research and development of new products, and maintaining close contact with our clients, LAGIS has cooperative partners in over 40 countries around the world. These partners not only have sufficient expertise, but they are also deeply rooted in the local markets, allowing them insight of the local markets and users.

Rooted in Taiwan, Sustainable Development

LAGIS is deeply rooted in Dajia District of Taichung City. To ensure the protection of employee rights, LAGIS has always abided by the concepts of “Sustainability” that we have the obligation to provide our employees with a quality and comfortable workplace environment, and also protect the rights and right to life of the employees in the company. We are well aware of the idea of “Taken from society, giving back to society”. To take care of our internal employees, we have established a favorable and comprehensive welfare system to allow each employee to work without worries. Besides taking care of our internal employees, LAGIS has also provided assistance to the children in elementary schools and high schools, adopted students living in poverty, as well as actively participated and assisted Dajia Youth Industrial Park in promoting the greenification of the environment to do our part for environmental protection.

Having gone through our first decade and moving towards the second, LAGIS hopes to share with the society and provide assistance and guidance to traditional industries interested in investing in biotechnology industry. The Company President has also founded a biotechnology association in National Chengchi University which has the short-term aim of promoting opportunities for interdisciplinary innovation and cooperation between the governmental, academic, and industrial sectors, organizing biotechnology and medical forums and industrial visits, exchange of biotechnology and medical information and contacts. For middle-term aim, the association can evaluate innovative research and development and products, allow match-making of professional expertise and services, and accelerate the nurturing of angel investors and venture capital so as to develop professional biotechnology and medical management personnel, create opportunities for traditional industries to invest in biotechnology and medical sectors, and assist the reform of industries in Taiwan.
